Kris Beech
Kris Beech, MSc, is a mental performance coach specializing in meditation and mindfulness. Playing his final years in pro hockey, he became certified through the McLean Meditation Institute and recently completed the MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) teacher training. In 2018 he was named the first hockey ambassador for the athlete mental training app Lucid.
Kris competed at the highest level of his sport for 20+ years. After being drafted 3rd overall in the WHL draft to the Calgary Hitmen, he played four seasons with the club winning a championship in 1999. Picked 7th overall in the NHL entry draft by the Washington Capitals in 1999, Kris was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2001 where he would begin a 15-year pro hockey career that included 198 games played in the NHL and two championship titles in the AHL (American Hockey League) and SHL (Swedish Hockey League) respectively.
